New £50 notes begin circulation today and for the first time will have two figures on the back side.18th century entrepreneur Matthew Boulton and engineer James Watt have made it onto the note that supersedes the previous design featuring the first Governor of the Bank of England, Sir John Houblon. It has not yet been confirmed when the Houblon £50 note will be withdrawn and both designs will initially circulate in tandem.
