Former President of Egypt, Hosni Mubarak, was today (Wednesday) rushed to the hospital from prison after suffering a stroke in prison. Mubarak, aged 84, is currently in a coma on life support at a Cairo hospital, sources said.Mubarak “is not clinically dead,” a medical source said. “He is in a coma and the doctors are trying to revive him.”
Earlier, state news agency MENA had earlier said that Mubarak had been declared clinically dead after suffering a stroke in prison and being transferred to hospital.
However, this report has been nullified by Gen. Mamdouh Shaheen, a member of the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces, who told CNN, “He is not clinically dead as reported, but his health is deteriorating and he is in critical condition.”
“Mubarak was taken by helicopter to the military hospital in the Maadi suburb of Cairo,” Shaheen said. “He had a heart attack and his heart stopped and he was saved by electric shocks, then placed on respirator,” he said. “His pulse is 40. He then got a brain clot. He is NOT clinically dead as reported but his health is deteriorating and he is in critical condition.”
