The Principal Private Secretary to Edo Governor, Mr Olaitan Oyerinde, was on Friday killed by unknown persons in his Ogbor residence in Benin.
Government sources said the gunmen scaled the fence of his house in the morning and gained entry into his room through the window and shot him dead.
Oyerinde, who hailed from Osun State, had worked with Gov. Adams Oshiomhole as his private secretary since he assumed office as governor.
When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, Mr Etim Bassey, an Assistant Superintendent of Police, said: “we are still gathering facts about the alleged killing.’’
The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr Peter Okhiria, confirmed the incident and said: “we will issue a statement shortly’’. (NAN)
