POLICE in Rivers has smashed a four-man gang of kidnappers at Oyigbo area of the state.  Noting that the kidnappers were largely responsible for most incidents of abductions in the state the state Police Commissioner, Mr Suleiman Aba said they were gunned down during an exchange of fire with his men.
The elated Police boss said his men acted on a tip off that the hoodlums were at an uncompleted building in the area and immediately the DPO Oyigbo rallied his men after them.

On sighting the police according to the Commissioner, the hoodlums opened fire.  In the ensuing gun battle four of them were reportedly shot dead.
The Commissioner who gave the name of the leader of the gang as Chukwuebuka Okorie said he was an associate of a dreaded kidnap kingpin in Abia state, late Osisakankwu who was killed by soldiers when they took over security of Abia state last year.
“Name of leader of the gang is Chukwuebuka Okorie of Umuozu Umuapu Isiala Ngwa Abia state and he is said to be a criminal associate of the late Osisikankwu”, the Police boss said while parading the corpses of the kidnappers.
