Senate President, Mr. David Mark just lost his official driver and a security aide in a fatal accident that took place last weekend. Mark, himself escaped being killed as he was not in convoy of cars at the time of the accident. Source gathered that the senate president's driver had left with others but was sent back by the aide de camp to Mark to pick a luggage which they forgot.
On his way back, he was said to be speeding so that he can meet up with other cars in the convoy when he suddenly had an head on collision with a trailer that was loaded with cement.
The unfortunate incident happened at the Burnt brick junction near Otukpo, Benue State yesterday morning.Mark is still mourning his late driver and police inspector as condolence messages have been coming from far and near.
Nigerian top political office holders who have lost aides or people in their convoy in the past include Adam Oshiomole, the governor of Edo State,Olusegun Mimiko of Ondo State, former governor Segun Oni of Ekiti State,Ex governor Turaki and others. Federal Road Safety Corps has attributed over speeding to the major causes of accidents involving government officials
It would also be recalled that last year, one of the children of the senate president was also involved in an auto crash but he narrowly escaped death but his ca was damaged beyond repairs
