Premature baby dies of rat bites

A premature baby who died inside an incubator in the Indian city of Chennai was handed over to its heartbroken parents in a disfigured shape. The parents have alleged that their infant did not get a fair chance to life as it died of rat bites, reports NDTV.
Two doctors and seven workers at the hospital have been suspended for negligence, the channel said.
The residents of Chennai were furious over emerging reports which led the chief minister of the state to issue a statement that the baby was disfigured only after its death. A post-mortem was performed on the infant and it was left overnight in the hospital and only handed over to its family members the next day.
Meanwhile, measures are being taken to keep the hospitals free of snakes and rats and specialist catchers would be employed to hunt them and keep hospital premises clean.
