Mother lets partner rape her daughters

A mother who could win the 'worst mother in the world' title, pleaded guilty to child sex offences recently for allowing her partner to rape her daughters while pretending to give them sex education.
The two girls went through the trauma of being sexually assaulted for two-and-a-half years.
The 43-year-old woman deliberately led her daughters into a situation where they were abused by the man in her life.
The Australian news website News.com.au reported that one of the girls told the court that once while she was being abused, her mother told her that it didn't matter if she was not in the mood since she would just have to learn 'this stuff'.
The Courier-Mail last month revealed the the 51-year-old stepfather had pleaded not guilty to 23 sex offences, including two counts of maintaining a sexual relationship with a child under 16 and 13 of rape, between March 20, 2005, and October 8, 2008.
The stepfather's lawyers argued in court that he could not have had sex with the girls as he had undergone a major back surgery around the same period and hence it would have been almost impossible for him to exert himself.

Bomb Blast in Jalingo,Taraba State

Source gathered that an explosion has struck near government buildings in Nigeria’s Taraba state, causing injuries.Part of Finance ministry was blown off. Three police officers reported to have died and many injuries.
The blast happened today (Monday) morning at a road junction near the offices of the Taraba state governor. A report from the Nigerian Red Cross said some people were hurt in the blast and taken to nearby hospitals.Police declined to immediately comment as officers surrounded the road junction.
Nigeria’s largely quiet Taraba state borders Cameroon. Jalingo is the state capital.

A dentist pulled out all her ex-boyfriend’s teeth after he dumped her for another woman – who has now left him because he is toothless.
Anna Mackowiak, 34, is facing jail after taking her revenge on 45-year-old Marek Olszewski when he turned up at her surgery with toothache just days after breaking up with her.
She gave him a heavy dose of anaesthetic and plucked his teeth out. She then wrapped his head and jaw in a bandage to stop him opening his mouth and said there had been complications and he would need to see a specialist.
The dentist, who works in Wroclaw, Poland, said: ‘I tried to be professional and detach myself from my emotions. 'But when I saw him lying there I just thought, "What a b******".'
Mr Olszewski said: 'I knew something was wrong because when I woke up I couldn’t feel any teeth and my jaw was strapped up with bandages.

Oshiomhole escapes death,3 confirmed death

Three journalists, Olatunji Jacob and George Okosun, both of the Independent Television, as well as Fidelis Ohani, a  camera man of  the African Independent Television (AIT), attached to Edo State Government House, yesterday, lost their lives while Governor Adams Oshiomhole escaped death after a tipper rammed into the governor’s convoy along Warrake  Road  in Etsako West Local Government Area of the state.
Six other journalists in the press bus and security operatives attached to the governor sustained various degrees of injuries while a photo journalist of  the state owned Observer Newspaper, Mr David Acha, and a driver, are in coma. Unconfirmed reports said  the Chief Detail to the Governor  was among those wounded.

Source learnt that the tragic incident happened when Oshiomhole was on his way to Auchi after he received some decampees from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to his Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) at Afuze in Owan East Local Government  Area. A visibly shocked Oshiomhole was speechless when he was contacted. Sunday Vanguard learnt he was deeply touched by the incident and wept profusely.

Man kills girlfriend over Abortion money

Jim Zaccheus, the 27-year old security guard who allegedly killed his girlfriend, Miss Peace Mathias and buried her corpse in shallow grave in his room at Elechi Beach Waterfront, Mile One, Diobu in Port Harcourt Nigeria,  he said he killed her over abortion money and blamed the devil for his action.
Zaccheus was arraigned before Mrs. D.N. Wanjoku, who ordered that he should be remanded in prison custody for lack of jurisdiction of the Magistrate’s Court to adjudicate on matter.
The magistrate said since the court lacked the legal powers to hear the case, the suspect could approach the High Court for bail. She subsequently adjourned the case till 30 May for the Director of Public Prosecution, DPP’s advice on the case.
Sources said the suspect had told his interrogators that trouble started when he could not provide an undisclosed amount of money to procure an abortion of her deceased girlfriend’s three-month old pregnancy.

Nigerian Teenage,Victoria Osetoku jailed to 12years for murder

A teenage girl born of Nigerian parents, and happens to be the only female member of a gang that hunted down and killed a schoolboy in front of hundreds of commuters at Victoria station in London has been jailed for 12 years.
Victoria Osoteku had helped set up the confrontation on Facebook the night before 15-year-old Sofyen Belamouadden’s death in an attack which was captured by CCTV cameras in the station.
Osoteku, 18 at the time of the killing, is the 13th teenager to be sentenced in what is one of the most high-profile teenage gang killings of recent times. Her jail term brings the total sentences handed down to those responsible to 124 years.
Osoteku was convicted of manslaughter after a four-month trial in which she gave evidence for 21 days – the longest testimony at the Old Bailey in recent years. She was also found guilty of conspiracy to commit grievous bodily harm.

 A child dubbed 'turtle boy' because of a giant mole that covered his back like a shell, can now live a normal life thanks to a British surgeon.
Didier Montalvo, six, from Colombia, had the rare condition Congenital Melanocytic Nevus.
There was a chance the growth could turn malignant but Didier's mother Luz could not raise the money for the operation.The family were also ostracised from their rural village as the superstitious residents said Didier's condition was due to being conceived during an eclipse.

A baby girl has been born with three arms in India due to a rare condition that only affects one in a million infants. The newborn, who is just four days old, has two arms in the correct place but she also a has a third arm joined to her back near the spinal cord.

A loud explosion rocked an area  Abuja on Thursday followed by smoke and ambulances headed in the direction of the blast, with injuries reported.
Reports have it that the first  bomb blast was in the Abuja Thisday office in Jabi and was carried out by a suicide bomber who drove into the media house before detonating the bomb hence  blowing away the building ‘s roof.Another blast was also reported at the Kaduna Thisday office according to witnesses.
But Mr Yushau Shuaib  a National Emergency Management Agency spokesman said the Abuja Thisday blast “occurred inside the premises of a national newspaper,” adding that “a preliminary investigation seems to indicate that the explosive device was planted somewhere within the premises, not likely a case of suicide bombing.”

Bobby Brown sentenced to 3years probation for Drunk-driving

Bobby Brown, the ex-husband of late singer Whitney Houston, has been sentenced to three years’ probation after entering a no contest plea to a drink-driving charge.
City attorney spokesman Frank Mateljan says Brown must also complete a 90-day alcohol-education course.Brown’s lawyer Tiffany Feder, who entered the plea on Wednesday (local time), says another charge of driving under the influence had been dismissed.
She declined to comment further.
Brown was arrested on March 26 after he was spotted talking on a mobile phone without a hands-free kit.
He then failed a sobriety test, police said.

Newborn thrown down garbage chute,mom arrested

Sharjah police found a new-born baby abandoned in a garbage skip of a residential tower.The police arrested the mother who had tried to get rid of the baby after delivery on the ninth floor of the apartment building. It was found that the mother is a Filipina maid working for a family of nationals consisting of a husband, wife and a five-year-old child.The maid had fled her original sponsor and was working for the new family illegally.The watchman of the building in which the maid lived was surprised when he found a newborn baby in the garbage skip of the building’s residents at six o’clock on Tuesday morning and he immediately informed the police.

The police sent an ambulance patrol which found the baby wrapped in a plastic bag and was taken to Al Qasimi Hospital. There were only minor bruises on the body of the baby.
Crime investigators and forensics experts ruled out the possibility that someone from outside the building had left the baby in the garbage dump. Then they located the apartment in the building in which the baby was born and arrested the maid.
The maid admitted she was in an illicit relationship with a person who had left the country. She said she had felt labour pains at 4 o’clock in the morning, went to the bathroom where she delivered the baby and used a scissor to cut the umbilical cord. She then wrapped the baby in a piece of cloth and dropped the baby in the garbage chute on the ninth floor.
Brigadier Abdullah Mubarak, deputy commander of Sharjah Police, warned families against employing maids illegally, citing risks like the above incident.

Bomb blast hits football fans

According to the latest report on Boko Haram, an unspecified number of football fans have sustained serious injuries when two bomb blasts hit a football viewing center in Tundun Wada, Jos on Tuesday night. NAN reports that the majority of the injuries resulted from stampede as the soccer enthusiasts ran for safety.
We learnt the bomb went off by the road side, minutes after the end of the UEFA semi final match between Chelsea FC and Barcelona FC.
An eye witness, Hosea Daniel, a security man with NAN, said that among the injured were petty traders selling by the roadside.Tuesday’s bomb is the third in Jos, targeted at soccer fans during high profile European matches.When will these ceaseless bombing stop in Nigeria.

Bomb scare in Lagos church

A 26-year old suspected suicide bomber has been arrested in Ikorodu, Lagos state Nigeria after a failed attempt to bomb a church. Residents were threw into pandemonium as the news of alleged infiltration of the Boko Haram’s sect into Lagos spread.
The suspected suicide bomber later identified as Olasunkanmi Ismail, reportedly scaled through the fence into Methodist Church at Ita-Elewa area of Ikorodu  about 7.30 am.
Suspecting his movement, some curious neighbours reportedly alerted the church’s securitymen, who subsequently apprehended Olasunkanmi, who was clad in a yellow T-shirt and a black trouser.
When searched, a can covered with a paper on which was scribbled ‘open in case of emergency’ was found in his pocket.
While being interrogated ,Olasunkanmi Ismail, who claimed he was sent to plant an explosive  on the church’s premises, refused to disclose the identity of the sender.

Man beheads lover after sex

The Oyo State Police Command, on Monday, paraded two suspects who allegedly killed a 42-year old woman, Sekinat Emiola.
According to the police, one of the suspects, Asimiyu Ayantayo, who was the lover of the deceased, allegedly beheaded her and cut off her two hands after making love with her.
However, Ayantayo claimed that Emiola died as a result of a charm that was placed on her by another lover; adding that he mutilated her corpse in order to make it impossible for residents of the area to identify her body.
"She was my mistress," he said. "I contacted 'magun' (charm) on her during love-making. She wanted to somersault but I helped her. Then she started vomiting after the act and fell down from the chair and died. It was then I beheaded her and cut off her two hands. I don’t need the body parts for anything and I did nothing with them."
The second suspect, Isiaka Akanbi, denied culpability in the alleged murder, saying his friend only sent him to buy a sack for him but did not know the purpose for which he needed it.
The Oyo State Police Commissioner, Tambari Mohammed, said residents of the area alerted the police about a headless body dumped in the area. He said the suspects would be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded.

Ex- Ohaneze boss killed by kidnappers

Shock and anguish day before yesterday trailed the confirmation that a former Ohanaeze Ndigbo in Lagos State, Chief John Nzewi was killed by kidnappers who took N30 million ransom payment from his family. Chief Nzewi, a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain and current president of Igbos In Commerce, hailed from Nnewi, Anambra State.
The deceased was said to have been kidnapped weeks ago during the re-run Senatorial elections in Anambra South district at Ihiala, Ihiala Council Area.
His companion (names withheld), who was kidnapped along with him, was reportedly freed on payment of ransom, while the family of Chief Nzewi allegedly, could not immediately raise the N50 million demanded.
Daily Sun gathered from a close family source that his family and the abductors allegedly later settled for N30 million. The kidnappers took the ransom only to release the corpse of Nzewi to the family.

Chelsea reaches Champions League final

Chelsea eliminated defending champion Barcelona and reached the Champions League final with a 2-2 tie Tuesday night, winning the semifinal on 3-2 aggregate despite playing most of the game a man short.

4-yr old shoots dad dead for playstation

A Saudi man was killed after his four-year-old son shot him in the head at their house in the Gulf Kingdom.
According to an AFP report, the boy shot and killed his father for refusing to buy him a PlayStation.
The Asharq daily, citing police in the southern Jizan area, said the child, aged four years and seven months, grabbed his father's pistol and shot him in the head.
According to the newspaper, the child had asked his father to buy him a PlayStation and the shooting took place after the man returned home without the desired object.
As he was undressing, the man put the weapon down, which the child then grabbed and fired at him from close range.
However, according to other Saudi papers, the father, in his 40s, had not noticed that his child had reached his gun and was playing with it before putting his little finger on the trigger.
“The boy pulled the trigger and a bullet hit his father in the head, killing him instantly,” Sabq Arabic language newspaper said in a report form the southern province of Jazan.Sharq said the boy is considered as the “youngest killer” in Saudi Arabia.

Tony Elumelu's mother kidnapped

Gunmen on Monday kidnapped the mother of the former Group Managing Director of UBA Plc, Mr. Tony Elumelu, from her farm in Onicha-Ukwu, Delta State.
According to the Punch, they reportedly seized her from her farm and took her to an unknown destination. The spokesman for the Delta State Police Command, Mr. Charles Muka, confirmed the incident.
Tony Elumelu is the chairman of Heirs Holdings, an African proprietary investment firm and founder of The Tony Elumelu Foundation, an Africa-based and African-funded not-for-profit organisation that is dedicated to the promotion and celebration of excellence in business leadership and entrepreneurship across Africa.
