Footballer jailed for raping teen

A footballer has been jailed for five years after he was found guilty of raping a teenager as two of his friends filmed it on mobile phones.Ched Evans, a striker for Sheffield United and Wales, had sex with the then 19-year-old who was "too drunk to consent" at a hotel in Rhyl, north Wales, after a night out last May, Caernarfon Crown Court heard.

The woman, who cannot be named for legal reasons, told police that she could not remember the attack and believed her drink may have been spiked.His co-defendant, Port Vale defender Clayton McDonald, was acquitted of the same charge to shouts of "Yes", although one man left the court and could be heard shouting outside.
Evans, 23, threw the headphones he was using to follow the trial on the floor of the glass-fronted dock and then looked shocked when his verdict was read out.Sheffield United said the club recognised "the seriousness of these events and as such wishes to respond in a responsible way when it has taken sufficient time to consider the matter fully
